ORY SHIHOR (sh-EE-or) is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning pianist and renowned pedagogue. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, he came to the U.S. at age 15 to study at the Curtis Institute of Music and later graduated from the Juilliard School. Mr. Shihor was the winner of the Young Concert Artists, the Gina Bachauer Juilliard Prize, first prize winner of the Washington International Piano Competition and prize winner at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition.

His students have garnered impressive credentials as winners of top prizes in prestigious international competitions such as the Naumburg and Hilton Head, and are regularly accepted to top conservatories and universities.

Mr. Shihor and his wife, Maria Liu, founded Ory Shihor Institute which provides piano instruction and exams for students of all levels, teacher training and certification, and a pre-college program for advanced young pianists with a focus on college audition preparation. Prior to founding his own institute, Mr. Shihor was dean of the Colburn Music Academy, which he founded in 2010, and served as professor of piano at the Colburn Conservatory for 10 years.

Mr. Shihor's teaching philosophy has transformed the playing of thousands of students over the course of his 25-year teaching career, making him one of the most sought-after and well-respected piano teachers in the world.

  • I want to attend the event but I won't be available on October 5 and 6, will the event be recorded?

Yes, we will be recording the live event and participants will have full access to the session recordings and course materials.

  • Can I attend part of the 2-day Intensive live and the remainder by watching the videos?

Yes.

  • Do I need to complete the L1 Intensive in order to participate in L2?

Yes. L2 is built upon the knowledge learned in L1. Therefore, participating in L1 will ensure optimal learning.

  • How long do I have access to the course materials?

After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.

  • Can I access the course from my phone and tablet?

Yes, the course is mobile and tablet friendly.

  • How do I complete the training to get the L2 certificate?

To get the L1 certificate, you need to take the quizzes at the end of the sessions and score 80% or higher (usually 2-4 questions per session). You can retake the quizzes as many times as you like until you reach 80%. Just be sure to complete the quizzes by October 13, 2020 (one week after the intensive).

  • Can I study at my own pace?

Yes. Participants will have full access to the course recordings and materials to study at their own time.

  • Can I still join the course after October 4th?
